World Cup Wellness Week
What a fantastic week we have had celebrating World Cup Wellness Week!
This week our focus country was France. The children enjoyed learning all about where France is located, its flag, language and traditional foods. We even learned the French song “Frère Jacques” πΆ.
π¨ Creative Fun
At the craft table, we created the French flag using red, white and blue tissue paper. The children carefully cut and stuck the correct colours, developing their fine motor skills. We also made the Eiffel Tower using coloured straws and created beautiful “Water Lilies” paintings inspired by the famous French artist Claude Monet. πΌποΈπΈ π¨π³
Dough Area
The children loved dressing up as bakers with aprons and baker hats! Using a variety of baking utensils, cupcake tins, moulds and cutters, they explored imaginative play while developing important fine motor and manipulative skills. π§π₯π₯
π§βοΈ Mindful Monday
A time to slow down, relax and focus on the present. The children took part in yoga activities which helped promote calmness and wellbeing. They also showed great independence by rolling out and putting away their mats and taking their shoes on and off. ππ
π Thankful Tuesday
We spent time reflecting on the things we are thankful for during Circle Time. Some lovely responses included:
π©π§ “My mummy”
π¨π©π§π¦ “My family”
βοΈ “Going on holiday”
πΆ “My baby sister”
We also enjoyed our World Cup Picnic!π₯ππ§ The children sampled French foods including croissants, pain au chocolat, fruit and cheese. During cookery, we made our own crêpe mixture and enjoyed delicious crêpes with chocolate spread. π
π We were also delighted to welcome our P4 Book Buddies, who came to read stories with us. Thank you for visiting! β€οΈ
π Wonderful Wellbeing Wednesday
A day to stay active and look after both our minds and bodies. Mr Skillen and Mrs Mairs introduced us to the sport of cricket. The children had great fun developing their gross motor skills, coordination, throwing and catching abilities while learning something new. ππ
π Think Positive Thursday
We focused on positive thinking and having a growth mindset. The children worked together to create a colourful class banner in preparation for our Colour Run. πβ¨
𧑠Fantastic Feel Good Friday
What an amazing way to finish the week! The children proudly wore their orange t-shirts and took part in our Harryville Style Colour Run. There were lots of smiles, laughter and splashes as everyone enjoyed getting wet and celebrating together. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful World Cup Wellness Week! ππβοΈπβοΈπ¦π§‘
