Spring Term Highlights in Nursery 🌷🐑🌻

17th Jun 2026
Our Nursery children have enjoyed a busy and exciting Spring term filled with hands-on learning through a variety of engaging themes, including Springtime on the Farm, Easter and Growing Plants.

Through water, sand, sensory and small-world play, the children explored planting, growing, caring for living things, farm life and familiar stories. They developed important skills such as fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, creativity, problem-solving and imaginative play.

The children enjoyed a range of creative activities including making sheep, chicks, tulips, cherry blossom trees, daisies and Van Gogh-inspired sunflower paintings using a variety of art techniques and materials. They also strengthened their understanding of flowers and plants by learning key vocabulary such as stem, leaf, petal and seed.

At tabletop and construction activities, the children practised counting, measuring, sorting, pattern-making and recognising 2D shapes, while developing concentration and perseverance through building and threading activities.

Our weekly stories, including The Three Little Pigs and Jack and the Beanstalk, inspired imaginative play, storytelling and language development. The children loved retelling familiar stories using props and creating their own story settings.

Cookery and snack activities provided opportunities to develop independence and self-help skills while tasting a variety of foods, including farm produce, eggs, rice cake flowers and Easter treats.

The term was made even more memorable with special events including World Book Day, Razzle Dazzle Dance, our visit to Streamvale Farm, a trip to Braidwater Seniors, an Easter Egg Hunt, and Egg Rolling at the Moat.

We are incredibly proud of all the learning, creativity and enthusiasm shown by our Nursery children throughout these wonderful experiences.
