Oliver Twist comes to Harrville!

30th Mar 2023

Over the Spring term, P6/7B have been learning all about the Victorian times. As part of this topic, they have been studying Charles Dickens in their shared reading lessons. The children have enjoyed learning about the different stories that Charles Dickens wrote such as The Old Curiosity Shop, A Christmas Carol, A Tale of Two Cities, David Copperfield and Oliver Twist.

As part of their Drama lessons, the children studied the story of Oliver Twist in more detail deciding to put on their own version of this classic story for their peers and adults in school.

Over the last several weeks the children have worked exceptionally hard perfecting their lines and designing their costumes. As always at Harryville, we encourage the children to make learning their own and they had lots of creative ideas to put a modern twist on this wonderful Rags to Riches story.

The children changed some of the dialogue to have a more modern day approach with the use of slang and had new actors playing the same characters for each new scene.

The adults in P6/7B couldn't be prouder of their achievements! Well done!
